Tamboerskloof at a glance
Tamboerskloof is a smallish neighbourhood of Cape Town that forms part of the group of suburbs referred to as the City Bowl. It lies on the slopes of Lion's Head and Signal Hill, next to Gardens and Bo-Kaap. It is a sought after area because it backs onto the National Park on the lower slopes of Lion’s Head and Signal Hill, and is sheltered from the wind off the Atlantic Ocean.
This area is particularly popular with families with school-going children as the four schools, Tamboerskloof Primary, German International School Cape Town, and Jan van Riebeek Primary and High, placed within this suburb have excellent reputations.
This area is also popular with young professionals, because of its close proximity to the CBD and lifestyle hubs such as Kloof Street, with its glut of popular restaurants and bistros, boutiques and home décor studios.
There is good mix of property types in Tamboerskloof, from sectional title bachelor and one bedroom apartments to freehold family homes with small gardens. It has the added convenience that the MyCiti bus route runs along Kloof Street into the CBD, where one can pick up on other routes along the way and the airport is a 20 minute drive (out of peak traffic).
