Cape Town's Fun Holiday Activities for the Adventurous at Heart
Category Advice
If adventure is where you get your dopamine rush, Cape Town is the place to be! Not only is it South Africa's hotspot for excitement, but one of the best cities in the world for the explorer at heart.
Top 5 Places in Cape Town for Adventure
With an abundance - and possibly overwhelming - number of activities and places to see in and around the area, we have made a shortlist of the spots you absolutely cannot miss out on! Take a look below:
Abseil Table Mountain
Starting the list off with a real bang, this is one of the best ways to get a breathtaking view of the Mother City! If you can handle the heat, climb down the world's highest commercial abseil - at 1,000 metres - from the summit of the iconic Table Mountain. Enjoy next-level panoramic views stretching across Camps Bay, Lions Head, and The Twelve Apostles.
Swing between the Constantia Nek Forest treetops
This is the perfect outing for a family of adventurers! With four obstacle courses - two catered towards adults and two towards children - the whole gang can embrace the Tarzan in them. Walk between high platforms, swing across the ziplines, and grab a bite to eat at the on-site restaurant when you've had enough adventure.
Hike the Krom River Trail
This trail offers various paths on different levels to accommodate all lovers of hiking. If, however, you are up for a challenge with a worthy reward, you can take the steeper path where you'll be assisted with chains to grab on to to help you reach the top, to a stunning waterfall where you can enjoy your well earned cool-off. Anyone who's experienced this will tell you it is worth the extra effort!
Snorkel with seals
Those looking for a unique experience will love this activity! Just 10 minutes from Hout Bay Harbour you will find Duiker Island and its nearly 5,000 Cape Fur Seal residents. Take a two-and-a-half-hour tour where you'll kit up, be briefed and then taken to the island for 40 to 60 minutes snorkelling up close and personal with the seals - and encounter you won't forget.
Paraglide from Lion's Head or Signal Hill
If you've always had the desire to fly and enjoy a bit of height, here is your chance for adventure! Paragliding mainly from Lion's Head and Signal Hill, enjoy a 40km per house glide over the popular Sea Point Promenade. Depending on weather conditions, flights can last from five minutes to half an hour.
With tons of other experiences at your fingertips around the gorgeous and (not surprisingly) sought-after Cape Town, this is the perfect place to settle for a lifetime of adventure, or getaway to your favourite holiday home. Contact SAproperty.com to find your next adventure!
